The HUE Invitational is one of the largest collegiate esports events in the U.S. with 64 teams from 30 schools competing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Winning the HUE Invitational is a great way to start our 2019-2020 season and is a good omen for what&#8217;s to come later this year,&#8221; said Dan Clerke, Maryville&#8217;s director of esports. &#8220;The win also gives our student-athletes something to rally around and a reminder of what they are capable of achieving.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Maryville beat host team Harrisburg University in finals for both League of Legends and Overwatch. For League of Legends, Ethan &#8220;Iconic&#8221; Wilkinson boasted a consistently stellar performance and was a driving factor in the team&#8217;s success. For Overwatch, Parker &#8220;Aether&#8221; Lewis had a great tournament and outshined his counterparts in every match up.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It means a lot to know that both of our teams&#8217; hard work is translating into results,&#8221; said Andrew Smith, Maryville&#8217;s assistant director of esports. &#8220;It was also exciting to sweep Harrisburg on their home turf. With the win comes a sense of accomplishment and pride \u2014 especially for keeping our position at the top in the collegiate scene.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few tweets from #HUEfest.
