All three credentials are geared toward preparing learners to design, implement, operate and maintain tools and technologies that will impact the future of businesses and organizations across industries. \u2022 Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence (AI)<\/a> Projections from tech companies and firms like IBM, the International Data Corporation and Grand View Research show that AI and blockchain technology stand to play a big role in many industries over the next several years, including business, banking and finance, entertainment, government, health care, insurance, logistics, media, and communication. Career platform LinkedIn ranked blockchain as the most in-demand career skill for 2020, with skills in AI and cloud computing ranking in the top four.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s more than one path to success in today\u2019s economy, and our new certificates and master\u2019s degree give flexible options to fit all students\u2019 needs and preferences,\u201d says Dr. Robbie Beane, program director of the computer science program and assistant professor of data science at 91ÖÆƬ³§. \u201cHigh-tech fields like AI and blockchain evolve quickly, and it\u2019s our goal to put students in the best position possible to meet the challenges and benefit from the opportunities that arise over the next decade and into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n The new master\u2019s degree and certificate programs continue the university’s focus on preparing learners for today\u2019s most technologically advanced careers while pre-emptively building their skills required for emerging career paths. Students can complete coursework 100% online with project-based, experiential learning that connects the tools and techniques they learn in class to real-world careers.<\/p>\n \u201cOur new programs will help Maryville students become leaders in high-tech fields as more and more organizations across industries look to implement blockchain and AI technology into their core operations. These skills are in high demand, but employers are facing a shortage of qualified talent,\u201d added Dr. Beane.<\/p>\n The master\u2019s degree in AI is a traditional graduate-level program designed to help learners build their foundations in the field, then develop advanced skills to excel in the real world. Maryville\u2019s program also offers learners a degree of customization, as they can explore elective courses in areas such as robotics, image processing, and text mining, or choose to participate in a capstone experience. The curriculum comprises 11 courses (33 credit hours) and can be completed in two years.<\/p>\n The two certificate options represent alternative routes for undergraduate and graduate students looking to upskill or reskill quickly without pursuing another degree. Learners at the bachelor\u2019s level can build skills in blockchain technology, focusing on blockchain networks, cryptocurrencies, smart contracts, and ledgers. Master\u2019s-level students can build their foundations in AI with the post-bachelor’s certificate, which covers fundamentals like mathematics for AI, Python programming, and machine learning.<\/p>\n Both certificates can be completed in a year, and all coursework is for college credit, meaning students can apply all credits earned toward a full degree if they choose to pursue further education.<\/p>\n All three programs also focus on the ethical and legal considerations of implementing this powerful technology so graduates are educated about how to approach the field responsibly.<\/p>\n
